Kennebec Water District Releases its Latest Water Quality Study

Dec 30, 2022

According to Robert Bickford, Water Quality Manager at KWD, "The results from this testing indicate that China Lake is maintaining a steady state with a slight improvement in water quality over the past 10 years. This can be qualitatively observed as well by the absence of a nuisance algae bloom for the past 6 summers."

In early June CLA President Stephen Greene joined staff members from the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and KWD to gather deep water sediment samples for laboratory analysis.  The sampling plan was prepared by DEP’s Lake Assessment Section, and called for 27 samples of sediment. We will publish the results here as they become available.
