The China Region Lakes Alliance (CRLA), established in 1995, works to protect local lake water quality through education and conservation initiatives. Members include the Towns of China and Vassalboro, Kennebec Water District, China Lake Association, Three Mile Pond Association, and Webber Pond Association.

 

Position Overview

The CBI Coordinator manages the CRLA’s Courtesy Boat Inspection (CBI) program, which educates boaters on preventing invasive species in local lakes. This includes overseeing inspectors at four public boat launches during peak times (Fridays, weekends, and holidays).

 

Responsibilities

  • Train, schedule, and supervise up to 15 inspectors

  • Process timesheets and maintain inspection records

  • Enter and oversee inspection data submission

  • Communicate updates and procedural changes to staff

  • Visit launch sites to support inspectors and address questions

  • Report program progress to the Board of Directors

  • Answer plant identification inquiries from inspectors and the public

 

Qualifications

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Attention to detail in data entry and scheduling

  • Availability: May–September 2025, ~20 hours/week

 

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of aquatic plants or botany

  • Experience in staff supervision and scheduling

  • Interest in environmental conservation

  • Valid driver’s license & ability to pass a background check

 

Compensation

  • $25/hour

  • ~20 hours per week, based on program needs
